My Crazy November

Nov 1, 2014 | books, gaming, writing | 0 comments

This year my blogging friends helped convince me to give National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) a try. Having already written over 50,000 words earlier this year, I felt confident in joining up to write the sequel to my first book. After a morning of stutters and feeling like my fingers and brain were not in the same room with each other, I’m feeling a bit less confident. My first book pretty much flew onto the pages. This one, which requires that I remember names and settings from the previous book, keep characterizations consistent, and remember what the heck I named my characters is going to be a lot more challenging!

Enter the Dragon:

Dragon Age: Inquisition, which went gold on all platforms this week (yay BioWare!), releases mid-November. I have my pre-order queued up and ready to go, my excitement level has been fed by the hype train, and I really can’t wait to launch my past decisions using the Dragon Age Keep into a new game. Without a doubt, this game will be the biggest challenge, and most likely reason why I won’t hit 50,000 words, to my novel writing goal. I’m okay with that. I’ve accepted it. I’m not going to let it keep me from writing for the first part of the month.

As if That Wasn’t Enough:

November is SciFiMonth. I heard about it from some other bloggers and authors who will be reading all things science fiction this month! Check The BiblioSanctum for reviews and more. For more information, you can visit Oh,The Books SciFiMonth post, and follow the hashtag #RRSciFiMonth on Twitter. I plan to start reading Lois McMaster Bujold’s Vorkosigan Saga, with The Warrior’s Apprentice. I have been meaning to read those and this is a good reason to start. Oh, did I mention that the book I’m writing for NaNoWriMo is a SciFi novel? Well, there we go, appropriate to the month. Of course, when my pre-order of ML Brennan’s Tainted Blood arrives, I won’t be able to resist the temptation to hop into Urban Fantasy land for a little while.

I may not sleep much this month…
